The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio’s website says that they specialize in “the lost art of feel-good music,” and it’s hard to disagree with that bold claim.
I don’t mean that it’s music to help cheer you up, or music that is overly sappy. What I mean is that if feeling good had a sound, it would be their music. And more specifically, if walking down the street on a sunny day thinking of a happy memory had a sound, it would be their cover of Tyrone Davis’ 1968 hit “Can I Change My Mind.”
What makes this a beautiful song:
1. The opening guitar is the sun.
2. The drums are your feet as you strut your way to your destination.
3. The organ stands in for Davis’ vocals like the echo of a happy memory.
